We believe that learning is at the heart of museums, libraries and archives.

"Learning is a process of active engagement with experience. It is what people do when they want to make sense of the world. It may involve the development or deepening of skills, knowledge, understanding, awareness, values, ideas and feelings, or an increase in the capacity to reflect. Effective learning leads to change, development and the desire to learn more."

We will:

  • develop a regional action plan in response to the new MLA Learning & Skills Strategy 2008-11.
  • continue to support Inspiring Learning for All through our learning networks and training events
  • work with the sector to enhance our offer to children and young people through programmes such as Strategic Commissioning
  • support the sector in developing policies and practice around lifelong learning and skills
